Much of the summer, many preps and prep families will head to the summer house. Whether a summer compound or a summer cottage or a summer shack is all that matters to the sensible prep. The importance is not so much the house, it's the lifestyle. Plain and simple.
It is also the location. It's not necessarily the biggest and best house on the beach, but rather the the finest of great prep towns. That alone can make the difference.
Surely there are lots of glitzy summer towns with lots of action and lots of night life and lots of people in fancy cars and designer clothes! That may be a magnet for some but the good ol' prep will find the outermost house in the company of like minded folks bedecked in Nantucket Reds, Seersucker, Madras and 100% Cotton!
Reds are better from Murray's! There are some who would say that anything is better from Nantucket! Although, there are many fine quality red pants from Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren Polo,
J.Crew.....Vineyard Vines ..an interesting note, J.Crew was new in the mid to late 1980's! They found a niche' and ran with it! While I was at Brooks Brothers, it was just in the beginning stages....there was one store at South Street Seaport in Downtown Manhattan!
Vineyard
Vines is one of the latest. Shep and Ian took their idea and ran with it. As a colleague from my Brooks Brother's said recently, "That should have been our business!"
I replied in the tune of a Beach Boys Favorite, "Oh, wouldn't it be nice!" I even love their logo!
Bullish on Vineyard Vines Boxers!
